The Bartow show was my first and I only had the Jr Chocolate doe. I got there just before 7:00am, people where already setting up inside. I quickly picked an open spot. I did not want to be so close the judging tables and where I could get in and out of. After I set up a nice lady with her group of Holland Lops and friends set up next to me. Between the 3 of them they probably had over 30 Lops. They had several for sale and seemed to do good business. I meet Lisa Wilson of Gentle Giant Rabbitry, she was one of the first people I emailed when I decided I was going to raise rabbits in Florida. She introduced me to two of the day's Judge's Marvin Cummings and TL Andrews, both of which raise Havana's. TL (Tommie) had just sold his entire herd of Havanas deciding to go a different route and start fresh with a new breed, seems I missed buying a few by a week or so. I did talk to his wife Terry a few times thru out the day and she was a super nice lady. Marvin was really laid back and I got to talk to him for about 30 minutes. I found he breed's Chocolate Havana's exclusively now and had 3 litters here in the month of June. Hopefully I can buy a few from him. He does still have other breeds but only Chocolate in Havana's. I soon found out I was the only Open class Havana, but did meet a nice family who had just bought a trio at the previous Bartow show at the end of May and was at there first show. They were doing a 4-H project so they where in youth. They had a Chocolate Broken doe, who had a broken tooth so was DQ'd in both the A & B show. They had a real nice Chocolate SR doe, and a Black SR buck who was DQ'd in B show for being only 4 lbs and was over 8 months old. The Judge in the A show mentioned how thin he was but never weighed him. Being the only person and rabbit in the open A & B I got 1st and BOB. Both judges had similar comments and really like her and think she'll be fine after she molts her baby fur out. Hopefully that will be in the next few weeks and I 'll show her in August as her last Jr
